The beginnings…
I started Pilates at the age of 14. It all started when my mother purchased a Pilates DVD of the classical Pilates series. I was hooked from an early age using the method to break up my very demanding soccer schedule. For many years, I continued to do the classical mat work unaware of the vast world that Pilates has to offer!
I quickly retired from soccer at 23 years old after I suffered a torn ACL and meniscus. The recovery process took almost two years after two rounds of physical therapy due to an initial misdiagnosis. When released from physical therapy, I had never felt so weak and out of shape in my entire life. I could not walk for more than 30 minutes without experiencing tremendous pain.
Pilates changes…
I desperately began a new search for low-impact forms of exercise. Discovering Pilates again in my search, I remembered how it always made me feel controlled and balanced. I began taking mat classes and I was hooked (again!). Because I was so weak from almost two years of very low activity, I found Pilates equipment to be a very suitable option for me.
I completely fell in love with the Reformer and Tower Pilates work. The equipment allowed me to facilitate better movement of my body and help me re-develop my strength. My knees felt strong and stable, and I couldn’t believe how good I began to feel. I even began to run!
I want to help!
Feeling these benefits for myself, I felt compelled to share my experience with others. I took the leap and began my teacher training in 2017. After having completed my certifications, I am now focused on practicing a deeper understanding of body mechanics. I love this method more than I can put into words and I can’t wait to share it with you!
